Celebrate International Women’s Day

On March 8, cities, countries, states, counties, and women’s groups will observe International Women’s Day. It is an international campaign that started in the early 1900s when Suffragettes began their fight to gain the right to vote. The first observance took place in 1911, and now, 107 years later, the theme of this year’s celebration is #PressforProgress. At Gordon Boswell, we believe that flowers are the ideal way to express sentiments. In this case, we encourage you to show your support and appreciation for the women in your lives, and for everything they do – whether it be at work, home, in friendship, a romantic relationship, or a business partnership.

Texas will soon be blanketed with the spectacular colors of wildflowers that are synonymous with Texas spring. Our Community Gardenarrangement is an ideal gift to give women on International Women’s Day because it contains two of the three colors that early suffragettes used. In the 1960s and 1970s, feminists saw the appropriate symbolism in the colors and used them to represent the Women’s Liberation movement, and as a gesture of solidarity to and with the Suffragettes. Our design incorporates fragrant purple stock, bright yellow Alstroemeria, pale yellow Gerbera daisies, and green button poms as well as other flowers in those colors.

Flowers are always appropriate as gifts. If you’re looking for a way to support the women in your life, show your appreciation, admiration, and gratitude, why not send flowers? The Gordon Boswell creative team will help you select a suitable arrangement if you prefer to choose something other than the design we showcased. We will gladly work with you to customize a uniquely special creation as well.
