Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor those soldiers who died in service to country, the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend and protect our nation. It’s also a time to gather with friends and family, attending parades, ceremonies and grave sites. For many of us, that means a visit to Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, a beautiful resting place for our community’s military. We will stroll through the memorial walkway and look out over Mountain Creek Lake, reflecting on the profound service so many of our local heroes gave and continue to give.
Gordon Boswell joins you in honoring our country’s finest this Memorial Day, and we also know that many of you will be gathering with friends and family to celebrate the fallen heroes you called your own. We’ll be hosting backyard barbecues, potluck dinners and more to both commemorate our military connections and to embrace each other at the advent of summer.
The flowers we decorate and give should capture both the poignancy of the occasion and its social, hopeful spirit. While there are a variety of patriotic designs available, we love the idea of setting the tables with something that is graceful and dignified but that also speaks to the arrival of summer. Fun in the Sun is awash in seasonal blooms, with roses capturing the dignity and elegance of the occasion and sunflowers (symbolizing admiration and loyalty) giving the design a bright note. Hydrangea soften the overall look.
Spend Memorial Day honoring the brave soldiers who were in your life and celebrating the friends and family who still are.
