Veteran’s Day Flowers: Beautiful Flower Ideas For Your Loved Ones

thumbnailVeterans Day is observed on November 11 and honors those who served in the Armed Forces. It coincides with other world holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day that mark the ending of World War I. In the U.S., Veterans Day differs from Memorial Day in that Veterans Day honors all veterans, while Memorial Day is dedicated to soldiers who died in service to their country.

If you have friends or loved ones who are veterans, sending them flowers can be a thoughtful and heartfelt ways to show them your appreciation. Just about any flower type in the colors red, white and blue can be the perfect way to honor Veterans Day; however, some flowers seem more readily patriotic than others:

Blue delphinium. While delphiniums can be white, pink and purple, they also come in a luxurious shade of patriotic blue. Delphiniums feature tall blooms that can tower majestically above the other blooms in an arrangement or stand on their own as a Veterans Day bouquet.

Blue hydrangea. Hydrangea are another type of flower that blooms in a rich blue hue. Blue blooms can help to convey justice and patriotism; show the veterans in your life your appreciation with the brilliant hydrangea.

Roses. Bright red or white flowers are another way to mark Veterans Day, and the rose is about as classic as you can get. The color red conveys passion, bravery and a fighting spirit; white exudes justice and a sincere motive. Send your loved one a big patriotic salute with roses on Veterans Day.

CarnationsCarnations have an inherently American, patriotic feel and are available in red, white and blue colors. Send an all-carnations bouquet to your veteran, or have them mixed with other blooms for an even richer effect.

Lilies. Stargazer and calla lilies show gratitude in a big way; they can also convey sympathy for the loss of the loved one. Lilies bring style, grace and impact to any arrangement. White lilies in particular evoke the bright white of the stars and stripes. Lilies can also symbolize the purity and integrity of a soldier’s pledge to protect our nation.thumbnail-1

Patriotic Bouquets and Arrangements

Bouquets that combine red, white and blue blooms make a big patriotic statement. A Patrioic Salute arrangement combines red carnations, gladiola, blue delphinium, white fuji mums and baby’s breath for a true salute in traditional style. American Reverence and Sacred Duty Spray are the perfect ways to pay tribute to the fallen veterans we’ve lost.

Veterans Day is a time for honoring the brave soldiers who have served their country with pride. Consider these flower gift ideas to show your appreciation this Veterans Day.
